PDFNet for VC++ 2005 :: question about malware invocation possibilities

Q: I need to know whether an app that uses PDFNet for VC++ 2005 library
code to view PDF documents should be viewed as a possible "malware"
invasion route, since PDF documents can contain active content.

Is it advisable to scan PDF files for malware content?

Are there things that I can do in my app, in using PDFNet for VC++
2005, that would guarantee safe handling of infected PDF files?

A:

Unless you are manually extracting and executing embedded files you
don't need to worry about malware invocation. In particular, if you
are only viewing PDF document, PDFNet will not enable or allow any
'Active Content'.
