Q: What is the maximum image size that can be stored in a PDF file? I
am trying to create a PDF file containing an extremely large image.
Smaller images work fine in all versions, but this file will only read
into Acrobat 8, not into Acrobat 6.

This depends on Acrobat's implementation limits which may change from
one version to another.
You may want to refer to section 'C Implementation Limits' and ' H.3
Implementation Notes ' in PDF Reference for more info.
This may also be a bug in earlier versions of Acrobat.
As a workaround, you may want to sub-sample (i.e. reduce resolution) of
the image.
